Another year comes to an end, and we are anticipating the New Year, but are very appreciative to all that continue to make Kansas City a damn fine place to be a jazz fan. Thanks to all of the musicians who fill our ears and presenters who give them a regular place to play, thanks to the fans and JAM staff, contributors, subscribers, and readers.

In this issue we again thank the educators who play such an essential role in assuring that the music will continue to thrive. This year we have profiled Dan Gailey at KU and Ron Stinson at KCKCC. We also asked Wayne Goins, Jim Mair, and Mike Pagán for their words of advice and wisdom for students as they try to make it in the music world.

We wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy (and tuneful) 2008. We'll see you around!

Correction: Writer Charlton Price informed me of an error in his draft of his story on Kerry Strayer in the October/November issue, but I missed it anyway. It is on page 41; we misspelled Bob Ousley, who is thankfully still with us. (Thanks, Joe Hogarty)
